Signature generator problems and how to fix them
Updated 17 October 2026
Most problems have a quick fix. Find yours below. Each one links to the full guide if you need more detail.
Making the signature
The download buttons are greyed out
There’s nothing to download on the current tab yet: draw, type your name, or add a photo. Each tab opens its own page, so switching tabs doesn’t carry your signature over.
My drawn signature looks shaky
Sign quickly in one relaxed motion; slow strokes look wobbly. Drawing guide
I want thicker or thinner lines
Move the Pen slider. It changes the signature you already drew.
Picking a style jumped to an empty preview
Type your name first, then pick a style. Typing guide
“This style can’t show some letters in your name”
That font lacks a letter in your name, usually an accented one. Choose another style. For non-Latin scripts, draw or upload your signature instead.
My signature disappeared
Nothing is saved on this site, for your privacy. Reloading, leaving the page, or switching to another tab clears your work, so download your signature first.
Photos and the camera
“Unable to complete previous operation due to low memory”
Android closed Chrome while the camera app was open. Close other apps, or take the photo with your camera app and then use Choose image. Photo guide
The page refreshed after I took a photo
Same cause as above. The site reopens the Upload tab with a note explaining what to do.
“Camera access is blocked for this site”
Allow the camera in your browser’s site settings, or tap Take photo again to use your camera app.
There’s no Take photo button
It only appears on phones and tablets. On a computer, use Choose image.
“This format isn’t supported. Please use JPG or PNG.”
The photo is HEIC (common for iPhone photos). Use Take photo, a screenshot, or set the iPhone camera to Most Compatible.
Specks, shadows or paper lines remain
Raise Cleanup strength, or retake the photo on plain white paper in even light.
Thin strokes disappeared
Lower Cleanup strength, or sign with a darker pen.
“Your phone ran low on memory”
Close other tabs and apps, then try the photo again.
Downloading and using the signature
The PNG looks black in my phone’s gallery
That’s the transparent background shown on black. The signature is there and appears normally in documents. Downloads guide
There’s a white box around the signature
You used the JPG. Use Download PNG for a transparent background.
Copy image didn’t paste
Many phone apps, including Canva’s, don’t accept pasted images. Download the PNG and upload it to the app instead.
The signature is blurry when enlarged
Make it smaller, or draw it and use Download SVG for very large sizes.
